x402 on X Layer: 1,067 paid endpoints, and no payments yet.
x402 lets an API ask for payment with an HTTP 402 Payment Required answer, so an AI agent can pay per call in stablecoins. X Layer is OKX's chain (eip155:196). There an agent signs an EIP-3009 transfer, usually in USD₮0, and a facilitator such as PayAI submits it. x402 Doctor checks every paid endpoint it can find, every day, the way a paying agent would. For this article we also read four days of X Layer blocks to see what those endpoints were actually paid there.
1. One seller, and a jump on 16 October
The 1,067 endpoints come from 19 sellers and 919 distinct services. One seller, theaslangroupllc.com, has 810 of them (76%): a family of "pulse" data services, one subdomain per topic. Next come quicknode.com (132), nansen.ai (51), loopholetape.com (22) and messari.io (13). The other 14 sellers have 39 endpoints between them.
| Seller | Endpoints | Services |
|---|---|---|
| theaslangroupllc.com | 810 | 802 |
| quicknode.com | 132 | 18 |
| nansen.ai | 51 | 35 |
| loopholetape.com | 22 | 14 |
| messari.io | 13 | 12 |
| 14 other sellers | 39 | 38 |
Most of these endpoints are new. Of today's 1,067, only 105 to 141 were in the scan on any day from 28 September to 15 October. On 16 October the largest seller's services entered the catalogs in one go (from 54 endpoints to 800 in a day), and the count has stayed above 1,000 since.
2. Always the second way to pay
Every X Layer endpoint in the index also accepts Base, and 99% also accept Solana. Most (87%) offer ten or more networks. No seller offers X Layer alone. Measured against the whole market, X Layer is about 2% of the roughly 61,000 endpoints that could be paid on 27 October.
3. Which token: mostly USD₮0
On X Layer the 402 doesn't ask for one obvious dollar. We read the 402 of up to four endpoints per seller:
| Token asked for | Contract | Endpoints |
|---|---|---|
| USD₮0 | 0x779d…3736 | 909 |
| Global Dollar (USDG) | 0x4ae4…2dc8 | 133 |
| USDC ("USDC") | 0xb6ce…3061 | 9 |
| USDC ("USD Coin") | 0x74b7…6d22 | 7 |
Two different contracts on X Layer call themselves USDC, and sellers use both. An agent that holds one of them can't pay a seller that asks for the other, even though both read "USDC" in a wallet. Read the asset address in the 402, not the name. For EIP-3009 the agent also signs the token's own EIP-712 domain, which x402 carries in extra; for USD₮0 that is:
{
"scheme": "exact",
"network": "eip155:196",
"asset": "0x779ded0c9e1022225f8e0630b35a9b54be713736",
"amount": "10000",
"payTo": "0x… your address",
"extra": { "name": "USD₮0", "version": "1" }
}
"10000" is $0.01 (6 decimals). All 1,067 endpoints passed the check on 27 October: 1,056 as listed and 11 with a warning.
4. Prices: ten times x402's median
The median X Layer endpoint costs $0.10 per call, against $0.01 for x402 as a whole. The most common prices are $0.10 (252 endpoints), $0.15 (138), $0.08 (130) and $0.001 (139). 227 endpoints (21%) cost $0.01 or less, and the most expensive costs $12.
5. What was paid on X Layer: nothing
From the 402s we collected the X Layer payout addresses of 17 sellers: 15 addresses, which cover 1,058 of the 1,067 endpoints. We then read every block of 23, 24, 25 and 26 October (345,600 blocks) for transfers of the four tokens above to those addresses. There were none. No x402 payment, and no transfer of any other kind either. Their current balances in those tokens are between $0 and $4, so some money did arrive at some point, but none in those four days.
That doesn't mean nobody buys from these sellers. Every one of them also takes Base, and agents pay where they hold money. On Base, x402 Doctor counts tens of thousands of x402 payments a day (who really pays on Base). On X Layer, the offer is there and the buyers aren't yet.
X Layer itself is not quiet. In a sample hour on 27 October we counted about 1,500 EIP-3009 transfers in USD₮0 and USDC, the same kind of signed transfer x402 uses. Nearly all of them were $0.0001 or exactly $0.01, sent by many different submitters to addresses that appear in no x402 catalog we read. We can't tell from the chain what they are for, so we don't count them as x402.

What would bring the first payments
- Agents with money on X Layer. An agent pays on the network where its wallet holds dollars. Until agent wallets fund X Layer, sellers there are paid on Base.
- One clear dollar. Four tokens and two different USDC contracts make it easy to hold the wrong one. A seller that offers USD₮0 reaches the most X Layer buyers.
- Prices that fit agents. At a median of $0.10, X Layer endpoints cost ten times the x402 median; most agent calls elsewhere are a cent or less.
How we measure
- Sources: the CDP Bazaar, Circle's Agent Marketplace, the MPP directory, GoPlausible, nohumans.directory, PayAPI Market and other public x402 indexes, read every day. The X Layer endpoints are those whose 402 offered
eip155:196in the scan of 27 October. - The 402s: for the tokens and payout addresses we called up to four endpoints per seller once, without paying. Two sellers (9 endpoints) didn't answer with a 402 that day.
- The blocks: X Layer makes one block a second. For each UTC day we asked the public X Layer RPC, 100 blocks at a time, for Transfer events of USD₮0, USDG and both USDC contracts to the 15 payout addresses, and for the EIP-3009
AuthorizationUsedevents of the same blocks. We checked the query against blocks with known transfers. Nothing was paid; the scripts only read. - Disclosure: Fizzl's own services (x402 Doctor, presign-guard, Ichimoku Signal and Fizzl Buy) started accepting USD₮0 on X Layer on 27 October 2026. They are not in these numbers. Fizzl's list of X Layer endpoints is also stored on X Layer itself, at 1-2-396.tapekit.org (TapeOut DeWEB).
- Open data: every endpoint with its networks and 30-day history is an open dataset on Hugging Face (CC BY 4.0, updated daily).
Check an X Layer endpoint yourself
- Sellers: the free web check reads your 402 and checks the token, its EIP-712 domain and the payout address.
- Agents: before paying,
GET https://x402-doctor.fizzl.eu/api/v1/preflight?url=…answers go, caution or no_go for $0.001, payable in USD₮0 on X Layer too. Before signing an X Layer or TapeOut transaction, presign-guard decodes and simulates it. - Every X Layer endpoint as JSON:
